Such a Paradox.
Still reeling from the impact of last week’s Mars/Pluto one-two punch (just ask Bill Cosby), the disorienting other-worldly effects of the Neptune station (standstill) lingers as the Sun now conjoins Saturn. This odd planetary combo suggests the extremes of intoxication and sobriety in the same breath and demands that we be both mystical and earth-bound at the same time.
As we experience and contemplate the intensity and weight of the Sun/Saturn energy today and tonight, Lorne Michaels, Danny DeVito, and Martin Scorcese are celebrating their birthday (Nov 17). It will be interesting to observe the kind of year each will have. Boardwalk Empire has ended and SNL thus far has been having a so-so season. Many clients born between Nov 8-20, are all facing above average challenges now. I am reminding all that Saturn to the Sun can bring enormous success too, as was the case earlier this year when Scorpio Matthew McConaughey won best actor Oscar as Saturn transited his Sun. Along the same vein, 20 time Jeopardy champ Julia Collins (b. Nov 10, 1982), is now a finalist in Jeopardy’s Tournament of Champions.
And not to feel left out, the 20-29 degrees of ALL of the fixed signs: Taurus (born May 10-May 20), Leo (born Aug 12-Aug 23), (Scorpio) and Aquarius (born Feb 8-18) are impacted by this transit. Evidence of the challenge to balance both Neptune and Saturn energies is all around us, particularly for those (like NYC’s Mayor DeBlasio) with a strong Neptune influence in their horoscopes.
More serious Neptune-themed events took place east of Houston, Texas early on Sat. Nov 15, when at a DuPont chemical plant four workers died as a result of a toxic gas leak (Neptune rules gas, toxins, and that which we can’t see,; and early Monday morning in Manhattan (two blocks from where I live), when a manhole exploded on 44th Street and Lexington Ave, just across the street from Grand Central Station.
But as is often the case, the darkest hour is just before dawn.
So while these late Scorpio degrees (particularly with Saturn in the picture) and the sign’s ruling planets (Mars and Pluto) now transiting unforgiving Capricorn are brutal, the joyfulness of Sagittarius (Nov 22), and Jupiter in Leo is just around the corner.
Look for the New Moon in Sagittarius horoscope to post in a day or so.
