Summertime and the Livin’ is Easy. Oh yeah.
Astrologically, we were promised that June & July of 2016 would prove to be one hell of a ride and unfortunately, the stars did not disappoint.
But before sliding into a ‘Thank G-d it’s all over” mode, at the very least, we’ve got to make it to end of August and the solar eclipse on Sept 1st.
By way of explanation:
MARS, the aggressive planet of mojo, anger and war turned retrograde in politically charged Sagittarius on April 16, slid back into Pluto’s terrain in late May, and was, for the better part of June, RED HOT and relentlessly retrograde in Scorpio. And while Scorpio is at its best “transformative”, the hell gone through to get there defies language.
On June 29/30, Mars stationed (stood still from Earth’s perspective) turned direct, and ever so slowly began moving forward in Scorpio, leaving a trail of destruction, death and violence that we’ll not forget for a long time: Nice, Orlando, and Dallas come to mind.
So, now that as of today, August 2, 2016, on this joyful , creative and romantic New Moon in Leo, Mars has at last moved forward and re-entered Sagittarius, are we finally in the clear? Is deliverance at hand? Well not quite.
Any planet’s long transit in the dark night of Scorpio (particularly that of Mars), will demand that we meet our shadow, face our deepest fears, and surrender to our higher selves. No simple task as we are also responding to the machinations of the less conscious collective around us.
The fixed signs (Taurus, Leo Scorpio and Aquarius) were especially tested during this sequence. And all Sun signs (with many fixed planets in their chart) have some war stories to share.
And while I am relieved with the red planet’s exit from unforgiving Scorpio, Mars in political and pedantic Sagittarius can be a tough nut too, what with his insistence on his way or the highway. It’s an opinionated and vocal placement, with little patience for another’s point of view (have you been on FaceBook lately?). So the challenge through Sept 27 is to maintain enthusiasm about our “team” and our truth while remaining open to and tolerant of the truth that drives the other’s existence. Again, easier said than done.
Through August, frustration mounts as the dog days build to a crescendo when Mars conjoins Saturn on August 24th. Mars/Saturn which occurs every two years, is a bitch. In Sagittarius, there could be tricky and dangerous travel scenarios as well as a flare-up or two around the world, particularly in the Middle East.
So from late August through Labor Day, err on the side of caution, especially where travel is concerned!
